Resource Support

The resource program is based on a collaborative model which is a cooperative and interactive process between the resource, classroom teachers and students. The model could be looked upon as a mutual problem-solving effort by a school team. This interaction results in a sharing of planning, instructional and evaluation responsibilities for the students. The major outcome of collaboration is the provision of a coordinated instructional program that helps students with diverse needs to achieve success in the regular educational setting. The sharing of instructional procedures and ideas provides both the resource and classroom teachers with additional ideas and skills which enable them to help students achieve to their potential. They work together to monitor and evaluate educational plans to ensure that they are effective and to make adjustments if necessary.

PCI offers many supports to assist students with academic learning:
-supported classroom instruction when necessary
-alternative work spaces
-access to adaptive equipment including alternative formats for print
-short term intervention to supplement classroom practices
-academic help in the library during the lunch hour and after school
